A teaching colleague recommended the tūpou resource created by Maimoa Creatives, after I expressed despair at trying to find a way to connect my Year 9-11 te reo learners to the tūpou kupu.
The graphics and layout of these cards are perfect as we now start every lesson with a quick kemu reviewing the tūpou kupu cards. Learners are scaffolded first with the tūpou cards with the kupu written on them. They are then tested to see if they can recall the kupu and use it in a reremahi sentence and physically show the tūpou grouping. Miharo resource. I have recently start level 1 Te Reo. These cards are helping me heaps, I play a we match game them check to see if i got them right. The poster also helps to have a visual while studying :) ngā mihi
I loved this game so much in our staff room, that I ended up buying me my own! We’ve been using it in our teacher staff room to practise spelling and pronouncing kupu Māori. It’s so fun to play and it gets really competitive. I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to play this with me at home.
