Game idea

Objective: Be the first to correctly name the tūpou based on the illustration-only flashcard set.

How to Play (2+ players or teams):

Place the illustration-only cards face down in a pile. For a longer game, print out multiple sets of the flashcards.
One player (or a kaiako) acts as the card flipper.
The card flipper flips the top card for all players or teams to see.
First player/team to call out the correct tūpou (e.g. tāua, mātou, rātou) wins the card. If guessed incorrectly, the opposing player/team has one opportunity to guess the correct term and win the card. If both are wrong, the card is added back to the bottom of the pile.
Play continues until all cards have been used.
Player or team with the most correct cards wins.

Connecting to ngā kupu hou Tūpou

A teaching colleague recommended the tūpou resource created by Maimoa Creatives, after I expressed despair at trying to find a way to connect my Year 9-11 te reo learners to the tūpou kupu.
The graphics and layout of these cards are perfect as we now start every lesson with a quick kemu reviewing the tūpou kupu cards. Learners are scaffolded first with the tūpou cards with the kupu written on them. They are then tested to see if they can recall the kupu and use it in a reremahi sentence and physically show the tūpou grouping. Miharo resource. Love the quick download and the options for printing size.

I have recently start level 1 Te Reo. These cards are helping me heaps, I play a we match game them check to see if i got them right. The poster also helps to have a visual while studying :) ngā mihi
